Class Expectations
Students are expected to come to class ready to learn, think creatively and work collaboratively.
About STEM Projects
STEM projects will begin with some foundational exploration on a given topic. For the younger grades, this will continue to be the primary focus of our work throughout the school year. However, they will be challenged to think about the world around them and how what we are learning can apply to what they already know or what they can envision for the future. In the older grades, while there will be some exploration to obtain basic knowledge about a topic, their projects will be more Project-based learning. They will be provided a problem or scenario and then challenged to use what they know, what they have learned and what they can envision/design/develop to solve that problem or scenario. At the conclusion of every project, students will be required to present how they solved the problem or scenario using various methods (e.g. presentation, movie, song, etc.)
In grades K-3, students will primarily be using their STEM Journal to keep notes about their projects. However, the 4th graders will only be using Google Classroom. All project information, links, videos and any other materials that might be needed for each project will be contained here. Students will also use Google Classroom to hand in all their final project presentations. We are going to see if we can go "paperless"!
I have also created Playlists on YouTube for each grade that contains videos for projects we will be studying.
Please click on the your child's grade to see more specific information, pictures, etc. of what we are doing throughout the school year.
